TAIPEI Inotera Memories, the Taiwan based DRAM manufacturer has pre-poned its proposed migration to a 42nm measure by two months.
As per new plans, the migration would take power in September this year. Inotera, a DRAMJV between Micron Technology and Nanya Technology, generally boasts of two 12-inch fabs with a combined capacity of 130,000 wafers through month.
The company is also looking at boosting its capacity through pumping in more money into the process. It is being speculated that Inotera main revise its 2010 capex to NT$57 billion US$1.763 billion.
It may exist recalled that Inotera had pushed up the capex budget for 2010 to NT$52 billion in January, from an initial goal of NT$45 billion.
Company top brass expect Inotera to perceive results go up following the revamp of its 50nm production knack.
This, they expect, would start trickling in by the third fourth part. Inotera has lined up a strategy that would find half of its output being 50nm-made products by Q3. The company believes that such a situation could bring into disrepute costs in a significant manner.
Besides, Inotera is also looking impertinent to boost its schedule to deploy 42nm technology so that it would subsist able to move closer to Samsung.
Inotera is likely to know production begin in small volumes at least by the end of the current year. The DRAM builder will put in place as many as 10 sets of plunging scanner equipment settled at its fabs by end of 2010, gang officials have stated.
